Custom Audio Cables – Bolex D16 and Rode StereoVideo Mic X

The Bolex D16 is a cool new boutique digital camera with some big camera capabilities and the Rode Stereo Video Mic X has become a very popular addition to the D16 when gathering ambient sound.

Recently a Director of Photography reached out to Matt Radlauer in search of a custom audio cable solution for his D16/Rode Mic combination. The location of the XLR inputs on the Bolex and the orientation of the TA3 inputs on the Rode Video Mic X made using the camera in the field challenging because of the big connectors and the wide profile created.

Low Profile XLR Custom audio cables and Low Profile TA3 custom cables were the perfect solution. With the proper orientation I was able to route the cables and create a bundled cable solution that is both durable and extremely functional. Especially if you plan on mounting your D16 on rails for handheld work.
